Mission

The Cordelia Knott Wellness Foundation is dedicated to the support of cancer patients and committed to educating the community on the importance of a healthy mind, body, and spirit.

History

The Cordelia Knott Wellness Foundation (CKWF), formerly known as The Foundation for Advancements in Breast Care (FABC), was established in 1989 to provide breast cancer patients with support services, to increase breast health awareness and to provide education to the community. In 2001, the foundation began to plan, design, and implement a Center for Wellness to complement mainstream medical care and address the emotional, social, and spiritual needs of patients and families throughout Orange County.

The guiding principle at the Cordelia Knott Center for Wellness is to offer the most comprehensive support network for cancer patients and their caregivers. Our information and services annually reach many cancer patients, their families, friends, and the community at large. The Cordelia Knott Wellness Foundation is managed by a dedicated staff and volunteers, and many of our services are provided free of charge.

We offer two distinct areas of speciality:
The Moretti Family Resource Library, containing the most comprehensive resource for cancer-related materials and resources in Orange County, and Irene's Shop on Main Appearance Center. The Center opened in October 2002.

Our Grant Program

As we all know, living with cancer can create ongoing challenges. Long periods of unemployment and escalating living expenses can make life difficult. Since its inception in 2004, our Grant Program has provided assistance for basic needs such as rent, food, clothes, and utilities. We have also provided grants for counseling, cancer retreats, and insurance co-pays.

In 2010, the major goal of the Cordelia Knott Wellness Foundation is to expand our grant funding which will allow us to help a larger number of cancer patients with financial needs.

We look to the future with great expectations. With your interest in our organization and the financial assistance you provide, more men and women in our community and the surrounding areas will be served. We hope to greatly increase the number of grant recipients in the coming year. With your help, WE CAN MAKE A DIFFERENCE!
